To unpack fuzzy ideas</h3><p data-start="1395" data-end="1429">I often start with something like:</p><blockquote data-start="1431" data-end="1547"><p data-start="1433" data-end="1547">“Let me think out loud for a sec…”<br data-start="1467" data-end="1470" />And then I just type. No polish, no structure — just the jumble in my head.</p></blockquote><p data-start="1549" data-end="1654">ChatGPT takes that and reflects it back, often saying:<br data-start="1603" data-end="1606" />“Cool. Here’s what you’re really trying to say.”</p><p data-start="1656" data-end="1703">It’s a mirror that helps me hear myself better.</p><h3 data-start="1705" data-end="1740">2. To write in my own voice</h3><p data-start="1742" data-end="1792">I don’t want overhyped, formulaic marketing fluff. I want plain, clear, human language — like I’m talking to someone across the table.</p><p data-start="1879" data-end="2020">ChatGPT helps me with that. I’ve trained it on my tone, my preferences, and how I like to show up.<br data-start="1977" data-end="1980" />Now, it helps me write like… well, <em data-start="2015" data-end="2019">me</em>.<br />(You’re reading a good example of that right now.)</p><p data-start="1684" data-end="2101"><strong data-start="1684" data-end="1742">And here’s a little trick that makes a big difference:</strong><br data-start="1742" data-end="1745" />One of the reasons my writing sounds so much like <em data-start="1795" data-end="1799">me</em> is because… well, it is. I’m not typing most of this — I’m actually speaking it. I use the ChatGPT app on my Android phone, and when I start a chat, I tap the little microphone icon and just talk. That’s why the tone comes across as relaxed and natural — because <strong>I’m literally speaking, not writing.</strong></p><p data-start="2103" data-end="2534"><strong>A quick tip if you want to try this:</strong> keep each voice note under two minutes. Anything longer sometimes fails to transcribe. So I do a short burst, tap the tick to convert it to text, then hit the mic again and carry on. You can do this as many times as you like, and as long as you stay within ChatGPT’s message length limit, it works beautifully. It’s become a really easy, friction-free way to capture ideas without overthinking.</p><h3 data-start="2074" data-end="2114">3. To move through blocks faster</h3><p data-start="2116" data-end="2191">When I hit a wall — with a headline, a piece of copy, a sales page — I ask:</p><blockquote data-start="2193" data-end="2288"><p data-start="2195" data-end="2226">“Can you help me shape this?”</p><p data-start="2233" data-end="2288">Or: “What are three ways I could say this differently?”</p></blockquote><p data-start="2290" data-end="2412">It’s like whiteboarding with someone who doesn’t interrupt, doesn’t need coffee, and keeps up with your thoughts at speed.</p><h3 data-start="2414" data-end="2458">4. To think <em data-start="2432" data-end="2438">with</em> me — not <em data-start="2448" data-end="2453">for</em> me</h3><p data-start="2460" data-end="2481"><strong>This one’s important.<br /></strong>I don’t ask it for <em data-start="2502" data-end="2507">the</em> answer. I ask it to explore options, weigh trade-offs, play devil’s advocate, or help me structure what I’m trying to say. It’s collaborative. It sharpens my thinking, not replaces it.</p><p data-start="2695" data-end="2758">And because of that, I stay in control of the creative process.</p><h3 data-start="2765" data-end="2810">5. To get unstuck on tech stuff — fast</h3><p data-start="2812" data-end="2884">Even though it’s not “creative,” technical friction <em data-start="2864" data-end="2869">can</em> kill momentum.</p><p data-start="2886" data-end="2985">Whether it’s domain records, email setup, Notion glitches or WordPress weirdness, ChatGPT helps me:</p><ul data-start="2987" data-end="3140"><li data-start="2987" data-end="3032"><p data-start="2989" data-end="3032">Troubleshoot logically (without spiralling)</p></li><li data-start="3033" data-end="3075"><p data-start="3035" data-end="3075">Translate tech jargon into plain English</p></li><li data-start="3076" data-end="3140"><p data-start="3078" data-end="3140">Save hours I’d otherwise spend Googling or waiting for support</p></li></ul><p data-start="3142" data-end="3246">And again — it only works because I’m willing to think out loud, even about boring or frustrating stuff.</p><p data-start="3248" data-end="3343">Because of that, ChatGPT can guide me through the fix much faster — and I can get back to work.</p><hr data-start="3345" data-end="3348" /><h3 data-start="3350" data-end="3394">The Hidden Superpower: A Thinking Partner</h3><p data-start="3396" data-end="3521">For a small business owner doing most of it solo, there’s something surprisingly powerful about not being alone in your head.</p><p data-start="3523" data-end="3689">This isn’t about automating everything. It’s about having a safe, pressure-free space to process out loud — and get feedback that’s fast, helpful, and non-judgmental.</p><p data-start="3691" data-end="3722">Yes, ChatGPT generates content.</p><p data-start="3724" data-end="3977">In fact, it helps me write <em data-start="3751" data-end="3757">most</em> of mine.<br data-start="3766" data-end="3769" />But the <em data-start="3777" data-end="3786">quality</em> of what it gives back depends entirely on the relationship I’ve built with it — how much context I give, how openly I work with it, and how I’ve trained it to understand my voice and values.</p><p data-start="3979" data-end="4012">That’s what makes the difference.</p><hr data-start="4014" data-end="4017" /><h3 data-start="4019" data-end="4064">So, is this “the best way” to use ChatGPT?</h3><p data-start="4066" data-end="4075">Honestly?</p><p data-start="4077" data-end="4176">There’s no single best way. But this approach feels more human — and more <em data-start="4151" data-end="4156">you</em>, if you’re like me:</p><ul data-start="4178" data-end="4361"><li data-start="4178" data-end="4210"><p data-start="4180" data-end="4210">You value clarity over hype.</p></li><li data-start="4211" data-end="4269"><p data-start="4213" data-end="4269">You want help thinking, not just spitting out content.</p></li><li data-start="4270" data-end="4361"><p data-start="4272" data-end="4361">You’re not trying to “game the system” — you just want to run an honest, effective brand.</p></li></ul><p data-start="4363" data-end="4459">If that sounds familiar, maybe try using ChatGPT as a <em data-start="4417" data-end="4435">thinking partner</em>, not a vending machine.</p><p data-start="4461" data-end="4538">You might be surprised how much more helpful — and human — it starts to feel.</p> </div>
